. UNLOADING HELD UP
Auckland, March 26.
Owing to a dispute regarding the employment of sorters waterside workers.refused to unload the Union Company's steamer Wingatui to-day. T'.ia vessel arrived from southern ports on Monday evening with over .2000 10us of produce jind general cargo. When labour was^called to unload the vessel this morning none of the waterside workers would accept work at sorting cargo in, the shed unless the sorters were retained after the vessel completed discharge and during the time she would be loading. .
Labour, however, for other work i» eoonnection with the unloading of tlij vessel was available, eight gangs ..belli--engaged. According to agreeineiH labour employed at sorting cargo in the sheds when a vessel is discharging can be dispensed with as soon as vi; loading" operations ; are completed. Members of the Waterside Workers' Union request, that sorters should also be kept employed at the vessel during loadingcperatitfos,-but fins the Union Company's officials refused to do ; ( The matter has been referred to Wellington, where it is being con-, sidered by thefDisputes Committee.
