'He was remanded to appear at Wellington on April 4, when a further remand to Patea will probably be made. On Monday evening as he was'finishing milking operations in a_ cowslie'i on his farm,. Turoa Hauroa, a young Maori, aged 15, heard angry words coming from near a whare where ho knew his father, Sam, Hauroa, and his uncle, Jack Ngapaki, to be. When bo heard the'argument culminate in groans five minutes later, Turoa ran to-the whare, where he found his father lying on his face outside at the buck. Turoa informed a neighbouring Native, who rang the police. '
When Constable'Selly arrived at the whare and found Hauroa dead he arrested Ngapaki and brought him to Patea. A search of the locality where Hauroa lived disclosed- a short giece of blood-stained wood, probably part of the shaft of a gig, and it is believed that that was used as a weapon.
