TODAY'S FORECAST
Special forecast for Wellington:— Strong north-westerly winds, backing to the south tonight. Weather cloudy arid unsettled. Rain and a decided drop in temperatures accompanying the southerly change.
The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today is for northerly winds to the north of Westport and Akaroa, Southerlies thence southward, and southerlies extending over the Dominion within the next twenty-four hours. Winds moderate to strong generally.' The weather will be cloudy to overcast and fairly general rain will, develop. Temperatures will become cooler.
A depression has been advancing on to the Dominion from across the Tasman Sea and its centre crossed Otago last night. As a consequence a southerly change has already set in in the far south .and some heavy, rain' 'has fallen in that area and also'in south Westland. Elsewhere the.weather has been mainly fair to fine and'mild with moderate to strong westerly to northwesterly winds prevailing.
