MOTORS ON BEACHES

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I would like to endorse heartily the remarks of "Sunbather" with regard to motor-cars on beaches. At Titahi Bay during the weekends and holiday times, motorists are a positive menace to both children and adults on the crowded beach. I, tod, have witnessed several narrow escapes of children through irresponsible motorists driving along too near,, the water's edge. A parent needs to be on the qiii vive continually to see that children are not injured by a passing motorcar. What an absurd position to meet with on a beacli of all places, where surely you should be allowed to relax! Why, you might just as well try to camp out in Willis Street during rush hour for all the enjoyment you get out of it. I am aware that there is an attendant at Titahi Bay, but, of course, it is impossible for him to control the speed of all cars on such a long stretch of sand. Personally, lam of the opinion that the beach is no place for motor-cars at all, and that they should definitely be kept right off.—l am, etc.,

ANTI-BEACH HOG.
