In the House of Commons, Mr. W. Elliot, Minister of; Agriculture, said that he in nowise apologised for introducing a supplementary estimate of £2,146,300 for a cattle subsidy to cover the interim while the Government grappled with the large and involved problem.

Mr. Henderson Stewart (Nat. Lab., East Fife) asked Mr. Elliot to.issue a White Paper indicating his general objective regarding agriculture generally and meat particularly. , ' The vote was carried.
