The Petone Rifle Club fired a match over ' the 300 and 600 yards ranges at Trentham ' on Saturday. j Just when the final 6quad were firing at the 300 yards 'distance, a heavy down- ] pour of rain made shooting conditions very difficult, and several competitors left i the range and did not fire at the .longer ] distance. Ballinger registered an' outstanding score of 49 out o£ 50, his seventh shot being an "inner." With several members not completing the aggregates were short of the club standard of 01, the' best score off the gun for the day beiiig secured by W.- M. Jackson, with 89, followed by J. P. Corder... and J.C.-Ashman 87;- O; Pcdersen 80, P. Stewart 80.' ' . ' There has been a slight alteration 'in the club shooting programme, the range next Saturday beinpc 800 yards, the day's shooting to count for the championships.
