BETTER THAN BRITISH OR U.S

DEMAND FOR EQUALITY

United Fress Association—By Electric Tele-

grapn—Copyright. (Received February 9, 1 p.m.)

TOKIO, February 8.

The Minister of the Navy (Admiral Osumi), in the Lower House, expressed the opinion that individual Japanese warships were somewhat superior to British and American, both defensively and offensively, owing to their advanced design and minimum accommodation for crews. He said that if a new'naval treaty did not "eventuate, Japan would be ready for adequate naval defence, and possibly was building more vessels of certain categories than either Britain or America. Japan would riot discuss actual figures until .Britain and the United States recognised the equality of Japanese armaments.
