The Bishop' of London, submitting his report to the Church Assembly at ■Westminster, said that he had' seen wheat burning in Canada, and heard that coffer is burned in Brazil and barrels of herrings thrown into the sea, yet there were people wanting •food.

The Bishop of Jarrow, opposing the reception of the report, argued that it was no church's duty to make society fit for man, but man fit for society. Consideration was adjourned. ~
