MORTGAGE PROPOSALS
PRINCIPLE- APPROVED
FARMERS' UNION DEBATE
■After further discussion, in committee yesterday afternoon on the Government's ■ Mortgage Corporation, proposals, the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union passed two,, resolutions unanimously,. one., approving the establishment of a Mortgage Corporation,; subject to certain conditions, and the other appointing a committee togo into details.
The text of the first resolution was as follows:—"That this executive approves the creation of a Mortgage Corporation subject to the provisions that, firstly, the bonds; be' sold'at a rate of interest that win secure 'a reduction in the farmer's interest, and,, secondly, that the. control be co-operative, or, in the alternative, State control, but preferably the' former."
The committee appointed comprises the Hon. F/Waite, Mi.C, Messrs. W. J. Poison, M.P. (president), H. O. Mellsop^'W. W. Mulholland, arid Herman Seifert.
