YOUTH DROWNED IN RIVER

. February. 6. While swimming •in the Waikato River, near the traffic bridge at Hamilton, late this afternoon, a youth about 20 years of age, Leslie John Lovegrove, of Grey Street, Hamilton East, got into difficulties and was drowned.

A young man, Francis Cassidy, who noticed the deceased's plight, swam out to him and held him up, but he subsequently lost his hold, the deceased disappearing. /
