Shortly-, after the , start, -Maranui broke through, and DI.C. Plank scored with a long shot from the side, Maranui. did. most of the attacking, up tilt half-time. Near the end of the first half, R. Pelham (Lyall Bay) had to leave the water on account of an eye injury, and play ceased 'until . he was able to resume. ■ .
Early in the second half, J. Meikle evened the score with'a long straight throw from beyond half-way. Lyall Bay then pressed strongly, until R. Pelham scored in the corner of the net with a fine backhand throw. Maranui were unable to; break through again,' although several times they came. close: to scoring. Mr. V. L.
