♦ ANNUAL PICNIC

The annual picnic given by the Evans Bay Yacht aiid Motor-boat Club to the limbless men wag. held at Worser Bay on Sunday last. . A, most enjoyable day was spent. Brilliant sunshine a calm sea, arid a light: breeze for the yachts made weather conditions perfect. The- "limbies' party consisted of 40 soldiers, 35 wives (or ' lady friends), and 43 children, a total of i 118, and' boat crews and club members swelled the total to about 300. The following seventeen boats carried the imajority of the party to the scene of , the picnic:—Airana (Mr. J; A. Barker), Atalanta (Messrs. Tbnks and McCrorie), Charlie's Aunt ( ), Edna (Mr. A. C. Kollett), Galatea (Mr. B. Armstrong). Isobel (Mr. E. Locke), Kestrel (Mr. O. Dykes), • Laloma- (Mr. C. Adams), Miss , Taubman ,(Mr. "Dick" Moult), Muratai | (Mr. R. Stagg), Eawhiti (Mr. S. F. Bailey), jßawene (Messrs. Lindsay and Harper), Romp (Mr.1 L. J. Ibbotson), Spindrift (Mr: L.. J. Williams), Taua (Mr. F. C. Holmes),' Veea (Messrs. Harvey and Weine), Wairere II (Mr. E. W. P. Bucholz). Lunch .and afternoon tea were served in the Worser Bay Boating Club's clubhouse, which was placed at the disposal of the Evans Bay Club for the day. The ! Evans Bay Ladies' Committee, under the direction of Mesdames ' .Wilkinson and Harding, carried out the catering. ! After lunch asports programme,was car r'ied out. Skipper 2; walking race, "leggies," T. E. Brown 1, F. Thompson 2; hop, step, and. jump, "wingies," A. E. Ogilvie 1, C. Adams 2; walking race for "wingies," K. S. Henry 1, E. A. Robinson 2; egg-and-spoon race, R. Noble 1, K. S. Henry 2; throwing the apple, F Thompson 1, H. G. Garratt 2; thread the needle, Miss A. White and W. M. F. Williams 1. Mrs. McKenzie and C. R. McKenzie 2; Evans Bay Challenge Shield, "leggies" 10 points, "wingies" 8 points; the "Limbies' " Cup, won by Mr. "Dick" Moults Miss Taubman, L. J. Williams's Spindrift 2. Children's Races. Girls, syrs to 7yrs, Doris Woodward 1, Melva Jordan 2; girls, <Byrs to lOyrs, Irene Noble 1, Margaret McKenzie 2; girls, lOyrs to 12yrs, Joan Tandy 1, Jocelyn Haszard 2; boys,'Jßyrs to 10'yrs, -Michael GiffordMoore 1, Lionel Tandy 2, Lawrence Thompson 3; boys, lOyrs.to 12yrs, Cyril Ryan 1, Murray Ford 2. The club's committee responsible for the success of the outing consisted of Captain W. J.'Keahe,' commodore; Messrs. A. C. Kellett, vice-commodore; L. J. Ibbotso.M. C. Lindsay, G. Yates, and R. Bell, and they were ably assisted by Colonel A: Cowles, president of the Wellington R.S.A.; Mr. J. Spence, secretary of the Wellington R.S.A., and Mrs. Spenee. Colonel A. Cowles, president of the Wellington R.S.A., thanked the club on behalf of; that association for their interest in the limbless men. He said that they were one body which showed in a very practical way that they had not forgotten 'the. sacrifices made by the disabled men for their country. The Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C, thanked the club on behalf of the limbless men aud also on behalf of the N.Z.R.S.A. During the day Sir Alexander and Lady Godley visited'Worser Bay
