Mr. A. E. Mander, secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation, has returned to Wellington after a brief visit to Auckland.
Mr. G. S. Nicoll, secretary of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, has returned to Wellington from" the south.
Mr. O. C. St. Paul, of Feilding, has been promoted to- the position of manager of the Bank of . Australasia, in Hamilton, in place of Mr.. M. Maning, who will leave shortly to take charge of the Christchurch branch of the bank.
Mr., James Lobb, of r Waitahuna, South Otago, who. has . beeiv visiting Wellington, intended leaving for' the south tonight.
Mr. W. Wallace, president of the Hospital Boards' Association, arrived i«" Wellington from Auckland today.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives, of the late Mr. M. E. Benniston was passed at a meeting of the members of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society last, evening. The president, Mr. W. S. Patrick, remarked^ that Mr. Denniston was a fine .type of;.citizen > and one who was always interested in anything for the benefit of the borougn.
Pleasure was expressed by the president (Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P.) at yes-, terday's meeting of the executive of- the New Zealand Farmers' Union at th« presence: iof Colonel J. Pow, the De* minion secretary, who became seriously ill last year. Unfortunately, said Mr. Poison, Colonel Pow was not yet restored to normal health and it was felt that he should have a few'nionths' complete rest before attempting to resume , again. Colonel Pow expressed his thanks to the executive and his appreciation of 'the way the staff had can-fed out the. work <of the union during his absence. It was his intention, he said, to seek rest in the hope of making a complete recovery.
