INTER-ISLAND CRICKET

NORTH TEAM'S RESERVES

Three Wellington players, all members of; the Kilbirnie Club, have been chosen to act as reserves for the North Island team to meet the South Island in the cricket match which is to commence at the Basin Reserve tomorrow morning. They are C. Parsloe, S. Ward, and B. Griffiths, and they will also probably act in the!. same capacity for the South Island team. The teams, which are . to. assemble here tomorrow morning, will be .as follows:—

North Island.—H. G. Vivian (captain), P. E. Whitelaw, E. W. Tindill, J. Ell, J. R. Larnason, V. Sale, M. Wallace, W. Tricklebank, J. Cowie, M. Sharp, and E. D. Blundell.

South Island.—F. W. Bellamy, I. B. Cromb, C. J. Oliver, H. Graham, K. Uttley, W. A. Hadlee, S. Elmes, C. K. Jackman, J. A. Dunning, D. A. R. Moloney, and ■S. Andrews.

Mr. W. H. Winsor, secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, will act as manager for both teams. The umpires will.be Messrs. L. T. Cobcroft and C.'Moore. The hours of play will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a luncheon adjournment from 1 p.m. to 1.45 p.m.,.with tea from 3.45 p.m. to 4 p.m. Among the players given above are many who are strong candidates for the New Zealand team to tour England in 1937, and consequently the per-' formances of the teams will be of special interest. The teams are fully representative of the players available in.both islands, arid the match should result in an even contest with some first-class play. Wellington has as yet had no opportunity of seeing in action this season members of the Canterbury team which, won the Plunket Shield, .and has had.very, little representative cricket at the : Basin Reserve. For these reasons the match can be expected to form, a big attraction. Particulars are advertised in. this issue.
