"AMEN" AFTER HYMNS

DEPLORED BY ARCHBISHOP

LONDON, February 5. The. habit of singing "Amen" after hymns was deplored by the Archbishbp of York when presiding at the London Church; Musicians' banquet. He said: If a tune is. a good tune it comes to an end itself, and there is no need to sing "Amen." Very often "Amen" has no particular reference to the words. It is never necessary, and it is always rather a bore. , .:
