EXPORTS FROM AUSTRALIA

Exports of butter from Australia for the current season, July 1 to January 12, amounted to 58,634 tons, of which 54,938 tons went to the United Kingdom. For the corresponding period last season 56,399 tons were shipped, and all but 3756 tons went to the United Kingdom. The largest State exports this season were made by Victoria, at 23,351 tons; followed by Queensland, with 20,608 tons; and New South Wales, 11,243 tons. According to figures supplied by the Department of Commerce, exports of cheese from Australia for the six months July to December, totalled 4108 tons) which is approximately twice as much as the quantity exported for the corresponding period the previous year.
