HUTT VALLEY V.M.C.A. CAMP
The first annual camp of the Hutt Vallc-y V.M.C.A. boys' division was attended by twenty-five boys. Tho camp, which extendocl over a period of three, weeks, was held on the V.M.C.A. properly at Silvcrstream. This delightful spot set in native bush coming almost down to tho water's^edgo provides an ideal camping site. Nativo' birds of,many varieties abound. Excel-, lent facilities for tramping are supplied j by the surrounding hills and bush, where many tramps and delightful walks were enjoyed by the boys. In front of tlio camp site is a playing area '' where football, cricket, and. athletics1 were hold* An all-round programme was put forward, and camp fires, swimming, water polo, paperchascs, and "sing-songs" wero among ths popular events of the period. A pleasing fea-ture-of the' camp was the absence of serious accidents, and the camp director, Mr. A.C: Edwards, treated nothing worse than sunburn. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burns attended 1 lie camp, Mrs.'Burns rendering valuable- assistance as camp mother.
