LANDING REFUSED
LABOUR CONDEMNATION The action of the Commonwealth authorities in refusing to allow Mr. Gerald. Griffin, of Wellington, to land in Australia- was discussed at the last meeting of the national executive of the Now Zealand Labour Party, and it was decided that strong 'representations should be made to tho Government in the1 matter. Tho executive was unanimous in its1 condemnation of the treatment 'accorded Mr. Griffin, and will urge the Government to demand an explanation from the Commonwealth Government, together with adequate.reparation and compensation for Air. Griffin. The setting of an < education ' test in the Dutch language was considered most unfair, and'the refusal to allow a New Zealand citizen to land in Australia under such "a pretext, wag regarded as art' outrage upon the freedom of .the individual and calculated to endanger the good relations which have hitherto existed'between the two countries.
