LIGHT RAIN PROBABLE

Special forecast for Wellington:— Strong northerly .winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and ~ warm with light rain probable at times.

The general forecast is for strong northerly winds reaching gale force in places, but a change to the south will set in in the far south and will extend over most of tho South Island during the next 24 hours. The weather will become cloudy to overcast and fairly general rain is likely during the; next 24 to 36 hours. Temperatures will be warm, but a ,cold change will advance later -from the south. Pressure is still,high over' the North Island to the~eastwards, but an intense depression 'has been - moving gradually across the Tasman Sea, its front portion having reached southern New Zealand this morning. A north-westerly gale has been blowing since yesterday^ at Puysegur Point, but elsewhere mod-' crate to fresh north-east to north winds have prevailed. A few isolated showers fell during the night, but generally the weather has continued to be fine and warm, although cloud has increased in^- western- rdistricts from Taranaki southwards.
