Ihfi guests wore received by Miss; Mildred Trent (president of tho Christch'urch N.C.W.), and tho decorations consisted of masses of- lovoly flowers, purplo lrisos, Iceland poppies,' roses, niid sweat peas—altogether a delightful colour scheme. Her Excellency was accompanied by Mrs J. K. Archer (wife'of tho Deputy Mayor), Miss Sheila Hudson, and Miss V. Hynea. MUs-Trent-and,Miss F. L. Cooper met Jior, and 'Mrs. A. I. Frner, J.P., presented her" with a lovely banket, filled with, purple and gojd'tlntod flowers, tied with matching ribMiss' Trent spoke of the work of their Excellencies in Now Zealand, and of tho gratitude of the people, extending many good wishes 'from all for their future happiness and good health. Her Excellency, in ' her reply, said sho was deeply touched by the warmheartedness of the/ women of ."New Zealand, and paid''a-tribute to their good qualities, giving'thorn credit ;for many and speaking highly of them and their lives in general. ""In her opinion in somo of their outstanding qualities they set an example to women throughout the Empire. Lady Bledisloe also doveloped her idea that t the care of children, and the upholding of fine ideals of peace and happiness were very flno paTts of the work of women in tho world. The problerr of the future rested largely with them in the upbringing of their children with true sympathy and caie. She spoke also about Lord and,, Lady Galway, telling much'that was interesting about them and their children. Sho concluded with i a mention of the happy years she and !his Excellency had spent in. ,New Zealand. , There was some good mnsic, afternoon tea concluded a most cordial farewell party.
