CROQUET

NGAROMA CLUB'S OPENING

The season of the' Ngaroma Croquet Club was officially opened by Mr. W. Nash, M.P., on Thursday. Owing to the heavy rain ou the previous day no play was allowed on the green. Mrs. Matthews (president) welcomed the visitors. Bofore declaring the season open Mr. Nash referred to the death of Mr. D. McKenzie, late patron of the club, and Mrs. G. Fairbairn, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect to their memory. Mr. Nash congratulated the club on its success and tho work done during the season. Afternoon tea .was provided by the, members. Bouq«ets wore presented to Mrs. Matthews and Mrs. W. Nash. _

The winnors of the various competitions were as follows: —Darts, Mrs. May; tunnel, Mrs. Aiteheson; quoits, Mrs. McKonzie; peg and hoop, Mrs. Bradnock; peanut competition, Mrs. Price. The Ngaroma donation competition was won by ticket 801.
