ONE TO BE DESTROYED

I Stated to be a Cross between a bullIdog and a diugo, a dog which was the subject of a case in the Magistrate's Court today was ordered to be destroyed. Eric Smith was charged with owning the dog, which attacked Pearl Unice Wood, her limbs being endangered. He did not appear, but wrote a letter of explanation. The evidence of Pearl Wood, aged 13, and of Ernest Whiterod, aged 13, was that on October 8 the dog owned by Smith attacked the girl without provocation and bit her on the thigh. In convicting the defendant, a relief worker, Mr. Stilwell said that Smith seemed to be very much attached to the dog, but he did not think he should be allowed to keep it. In addition to ordering Smith to pay costs he made a» order that the animal be destroyed. Bert Frederick Fox was charged frith. being the owner of a dog which attacked F. D.
