MIRAMAR BOXING CLUB
The Miramar Boxing Club held its annual social gathering last evening. Numerous exhibition bouts and musical entertainment were followed by refreshments, after which the trophies were presented to the successful contestants in the recent Wellington championship.
The president, Mr. C. O. Bell, said that the club had had la very successful year, and, considering its size, had put up excellent performances.
Mr. A. Jacobs, representing tho Wellington Boxing Association, said that the thanks of the people of tho district were due to Mr. "Jim" Donoghue, the trainer, for the condition in which lie had put the boys in the ring. Boxing, he said, was regarded by very many people is the beet of all sports, for it brought out the best in the combatants. His association warmly appreciated the work of the club in furthering the sport in Wellington. Trophies were presented by the patron, Mr. Lou Smith, to K. Coveny, W. Weaver, E. Adams, T. Troy, J. Jones, S. Paul, S.Watson, T. Arbuthnott, R. Cameron, and It. Allott.
