Three children were drowned at Cowes, Phillip Island. The mother of the children, Mrs. Ena McKenzie, 40, was rescued. A young man, Bryant West, saw th© woman struggling in the water near the end of the pier and dived in and brought her ashprc. Later the body of Ronald MeKenzie, 5, was recovered, but tho bodies of Ena, 4, and Douglas, eight months old, wer» washed out to sea.
