WELLINGTON BEGIMENT

ROYAL VISIT PREPARATIONS

The recent weekend bivouac held by the Wellington Regiment was voted a signal success by all ranks, who are now keenly anticipating the next one, to be held on November 24 and 2a. The programme will include further rehearsals of the guard of honour drill in preparation for the visit of his Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester. From the number of applications received for inclusion in the :guard it is evident that every territorial in the regiment is keen on being selected for this honour.

All ranks will be glad to learn that the first pay-out for "out-of-camp" training will bo made during.,the..next....period,..of concentrated training. The pay will no doubt be welcome to many; ■ - - <->■' -: ' ? ■ ■

Arrangements-..have been.'- completed -for the annual church parade -of the regiment to be held at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral on Sunday, November, ll (Armistice, Day). Detailed instructions- for this :parade will be promulgated within-the next few days. The order,for:the full-dress uniforms for the band of the: Eirst-Battalion,, the Wellington. Regiment, lias ;ndw been > placed. These .uniforms are the same as those worn by its allied regiment, .the, York, and, Lancaster Regiment. 'They.-are'to be ready in time to.be worn by. the'bandwHen-parad-ing with the Wellington Regiment for the ! guard of honour to: his Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester..\Bupp6rters; of the band have given, generous-assistance hrtaking up the debentures issued- by the, band; but the funds are still short pKthe required amount to cover the cost of. these- -uniforms. The band committee,-however,-is actively assistingin the sale of the debentures and it is ■ hoped - that the full sum required : will be reached..in the next few: weeks':.;1. .
