About thrcp weeks ago inquiries were made by a'■" Post" reporter at the office of the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. at "Wellington as to whether; in view of tho betrothal of Princess Marina to Prineo George, now Duke of Kent, tho name Marina 1 had been given to children whose births had -boon registered recently, At that tiniri tho Registrar (Mr. J. L. Pale* thotpo) said "no," but he indicatod -that it would not oauso- hiui any great surprise if in tho future his register i should contain not a few Marinas. His [register now contains one. ! Only yesterday a birth' was registered at tho office in tho namo of i Marina. Tho child was born on September 14 and the parents are also of New Zealand birth. Tho father-is a transport,driver,,. ■ .■ . ..■:■■ In Auckland, too, there is a young Marina far removed from Eoyal status. The birth was registered on Thursday, though tho child was born as long ago as May 2, and, appropriately enough, in, King George V Hospital, Rotorua. The father, it is reported, was born in Auckland,;, but his . surname suggests Scottish.'ancestry. . Ha is. a .plumber and resides at Rivcrheatl. . " ;
