MEAT POSITION
BRITISH POLICY
AWAITED BY NEW ZEALAND
No word has yet been received by the Government concerning tho meat negotiations which are to take place in London this month between the British Government and the High Commissioner for New Zealand (Sir, James Parr). Mr. David Jones, chairman of the Meat Producers' Board, who is to advise tho High Commissioner, should havo arrived in London yesterday or today, and it is anticipated that it will not be long before the delicate conferences which will vitally affect both meat and dairy farmers in New Zealand will commence.
Tho New Zealand Government is anxious to obtain a statement of policy on the meat importation question from the British authorities, and is particularly desirous of knowing the plans which Britain has for the nest few years so that arrangements to meet the position in New Zealand can be made on a comparatively long-range basis.
