SHORT OF COAL

AUSTRALIAN TRAWLER

Short of coal and over a thousand miles from her home port tho Australian trawler Alfio Cam put into Wellington in the early hours of this morning, and later berthed at the Queen's Wharf. After loading about 50 tons of bunker coal it is expected that the ship will leave here this evening for Sydney. Captain Double, who is in command of tho trawler, informed a "Post" reporter that the Alfie Cam had been fishing on the west coast of tho South Island, and had been about a fortnight away from Sydney. The westward trip across tho Tasman would take about seven days. Captain Double was for many years associated with trawling in and out of AVollington, being master of both tho Futurist and the Nora Niven. He was with tho Nora Nivcn for seven years. Tho Alfic Cam was built i'u 1020, and has a gross measurement of about 280 tons, her length being nearly 130 feet.
