RICCARTON CONTINGENT
(By Telegraph) (Spoclalto tho "Evening Post.") CHRISTOHURCH, This Day. ' Riecarton horses that are to race at Trentham will leave for Wellington on Thursday night's steamer. Iv addition to the fourteen acceptors for the first day General O'Duffy will go for tho Trial iStiikcs on the second day. Argentic, who was nominated only for the second day, will not make the trip. Custodian, Abdication, The Masqueradcr, Marcus Cicero, and "J-Jinc Ra arrived back from their Sydney trip this morning. ;. It is probable that Riecarton will be well represented in the nominations for the principal events at the Auckland Cup Meeting, which will close on Friday night. Vintage will be included in the Auckland Cup and in other events, while, his stablemate G-aysome will also be put in some racfis with every prospect of making the trip to Ellerslie. ' Cricket Bat has taken a new lease of life since he resumed work after his spell. •He is as gay as a two-year-old and ■ from the manner in which he gets through his tasks it may not bo long before he is ready to show his best form in a race. Polydora is none the worse for her race at Washdyke on Saturday. She moved freely in a mile gallop this morning and is likely to race prominently _at Trentham. Having returned to winning form she will be one of the popular picks in the New Zealand Cup. Vintage went in good style in his seven-furlong spin this morning. Jli«s time was equal to anything done -during the morning, and the manner in which he did it made his gallop impressive. Tie should run well at Trentham. where L. .1. Ellis will ride him. It is far from certain yet that he will be a starter in the New Zealand Cup. His owner stated this morning Unit he would not be set the ta.sk of racing over two miles unless he was at his best, and his future programme will depend on how be performs. at Trentham, particularly in the Harcourt Cup on the second day. If he is started in the- New Zealand Cup A. E. Ellis will ride him.
