Tlie tonnage of shipping under construction in Britain and Ireland on September 30, namely, 604,290 tons, is nearly double the amount at September 30, 1933. The upward tendency is also maintained abroad with 707,091 tons, according to Lloyd's Register, including: Japan, £149,750; France, 120,868; Germany, 120,81(3; Denmark, 74,938; Holland, "70,735; Italy, 37,970; Sweden, 04,565; United States, 22,225. Motor-ships in the world are 764,909 tons, and oil tankers 324,712 tons.
