LARGELY DUE TO NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING
I A tribute fo tho power of newspaper advertising was'paid by Mr. W. P. V. Fornie, general manager of Caldcr, Mackay Company, when reviewing the firm's fifth year of business just completed, states tho "Christchurch Star." The year had been a record one, and this, Mr. Fornio said, was due in a large measuro to newspaper advertising. "It has not only created a demand but has stimulated the sale of tlie household necessities in which we trade," he continued. "Tho response of the Christchurch public to the offer of household necessities obtainable on a system of easy payments has been most gratifying, and it has proved conclusively that tho public appreciate the fact that time payment purchasing is really a method of compulsory saving, with tho added advantage that the goods arc enjoyed while saving is being done. Advertising is the life-blood of our business, and by its aid wo have drawn over 42,000 customers to our store, from all sections of the community. Of course, advertising requires to be backed by real values in strict, fulfilment of every promise made to customers, combined with the ability to offer service. On these foundations our business has been built, and it is with confidence that we look forward to the coming year."
