SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
Mr. A. Gibbs presided at the monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union. An application from the Kaiwarra Methodist School to be affiliated to the union was granted. Correspondence relative to the invitation that the union hold the forthcoming Easter Teachers' Convention at Mastertou was held over for further consideration at the next meeting.
The reports made by the examiners in the annual scholars' Scripture examination at the previous meeting received further consideration. The examiners stated that the answer papers in a large number of cases indicated efficient and careful teaching. The value of memory work, especially for younger children, was strongly urged. It was stressed that it was desirable that schools should take greater advantage of the review lesson provided in tlio lesson courses each quarter, as impressing the lessons upon the memories of scholars. It was decided that this was a matter for consideration at the next teachers' convention.
The examiners, Mcfidames C'allam, Patterson, and Wood, and Mr. 11. D. Grocott, were thanked for their presence at the meeting of union delegates.
