ST. JOHN'S (Newfoundland), September 27,
Mr. Bamsay MaeDonald, who will sail for England on Friday on the liner Nova Scotia, broke his long silence tonight, when he concluded his summer vacation in Newfoundland and the maritime provinces of Canada. Ho declared that there were "no lack of remedies and no magic cures" for the world economic upheaval. "Honest work and detailed planning aro required," said Mr. Mac Donald. "Behind those responsible for government there must be well-instructed opinion, with good judgment. Such is the idea guiding us at Home, and we arc beginning to rear) our reward. It should make all members of the British Commonwealth proud of what it is doing, and of the honour and influence which are in consequence being given to it throughout the world. To help in that work I am returning tomorrow. ' ' .
