WOMEN'S RECEPTION
PAN-PACIFIC DELEGATES
Representatives of most women's organisations in Wellington combined with the Wellington Women Teachers' Association last evening in a welcome to delegates of the Women's Pan-Paciiic Conference. Thero was a large attendance at the Blue Trianglo Hall, which was comfortably arranged, and beautifully decorated for the,occasion with largo bowls of flowers. ■ ■■~ On tho stage with Miss- . Elsie.- Au-.j drews (leader of the New Zealand delegation and chief guest) were Miss Scott (president of the Wellington I Women Teachers' Association and organiser of the mooting), Mrs. J. G. Ooates. Mrs. T. 0. A. Hislop, Mrs. H. D Bennett, Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Lundius, Miss A. Kirk, MissXee, and Miss Scott (Y.W.C.A.). ■ In introducing Miss Andrews, Miss Scott said she was delighted to see so large an attendance, which demonstrated the fact that women wero eager to extend their knowledge beyond their own land, and also showed their appreciation of the work of the Women's Pan-Pacific Conference. The women teachers were very proud of Miss Andrews, said Miss Scott. The Mayoress, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, welcomed Miss Andrews on behalf; of the women of Wellington. The coming together of representatives of.,.oth^ nations must help towards the ultimate solving of tho problems of thoinoment, she said, and they had had' an extremely good opportunity for the interchange of views with women ot other countries. ■ Bouquets were presented to MisAndrews, Mrs. Coates, Mrs. Hislop, and Mrs. Bennett. ■ Miss Andrews made a very_ inteiest-. ing speech describing'the activities ot the conference and'many of the outstanding "personalities among tliu deleDaUard playing the accompaniments.
