TESTED HERDS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I have had need to inquire into a supply of raw milk for my children. In making these inquiries I naturally asked for milk from a herd recently tested for tuberculosis. I discover to my amazement that such a test is not required by law. The meat we eat is tested, very strictly; why not the milk we drink? I had father be served with watered milk and so allow our inspectors time to do a little necessary testing. Could you give me some enlightenment in this matter? —I am, etc.,
MOTHEE,
[The Department of Agriculture states that although it is not compulsory by law to have all the city supply herds regularly tested, a regular inspection of the cows is maintained, and a test is made at the Department's discretion wherever it. is thought necessary. Any milk supplier wishing to have his. herd tested can have this done on application to the Department.]
