DAY IN PARLIAMENT
THE FINANCIAL DEBATE
The Financial Debate was continued in the House of Representatives yesterday, when members settled down to the usual discussion on topics of national and local interest. The speakers were drawn, alternately from both sides of the House, but the Independents were not represented.
Four Government and three Labour members occupied the sitting hours and, apart from replying to the comments made by opposing interests, delivered carefully prepared speeches. Numerous suggestions were put forward for the consideration of the Government and there will probably be Ministerial comment on these at a later stage of the debate.
Before the debate • "was resumed a number of reports from Select Committees were presented to the House, one or two being debated briefly.
The House rose at 11.50 p.m,
