PETONE CLUB'S MEETING
'J'he annual meeting of the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held last night. Mr. J. li.en-, president, occupied the chair.
Jn moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr. lvcrr referred to the; splendid progress the club had made, and expressed gratification at the manner in which it was recruiting young people from the town and district.
The iinnuul report showed that the club hail hart a very successful year and in spite of hard times closed the year with a, credit balance. In the triangular contest between Masterton, Olympic, and Pctone, the banner was won by the L'ctono Club, In the Indies' section the dub had greatly improved its position, Miss 11. Brown Vicing the winner of the Hartley Cup, with Miss D. McLean run-ner-up. The men's section was weak in the distance runners. W. Crooks was •lie winner of the Warlilington Cup for the third year in succession. He was also (he winner of the Morris Rose Howl. I). Parala was nuiner-iip for the Waddington (up. The Layknld Cup was won by 0. Disley. nf the Athletic Club. In cycling the club occupied a strong position. The "Chronicle" I'lip for cycling was yon by T. Roe, with J. Morris as runnerup. The Lncoy Supreme Cup fnr junior cyclists was won by H. Untton. The Towiv Kirtoiv Cup wits wom-cil by 1!. Ulmer, of the Old Boys' Club, with K. Wilson a.s runner-iip. 'J'he club expressed its thanks to the following: Messrs. G. Winter, L. Price, it. Sander*, IT. fates, C. Campbell, D.; McCarthy, C. Parata, C. Biythe, and K. McWhirler for assistance at meetings: j the Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A.,! the- Wellington Cycling Centre, the trainers, and ninny loyal supporters; Miss 11. Brown for the donation of a cushion; and Mr. J. Smith for his work in keeping the track in good order. The revenue of the club during the year was £103. It was agreed that the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club and •the Hutt Valley Road Cycling Club should become one body. It ■was stated that the amalgamation was as a result of a conference between' the parties on July 21, and at the meeting last night the following .conditions, which will now be embodied in the club's constitution were recognised:— "That all cycling activities in future will be carried on under the name of the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club." . "That colours for all cyclists for both track and road shall be • blue and red, with a six-inch by one inch yellow P on the left breast, and that the athletic and lady sections retain the present colours." "That a sub-coinmittee»and officers (president excepted) shall be elected to control the winter road racing." "That the winter section of road cycling be not allowed to pledge any credit without the permission of the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club."; "That the winter section shall furnish an audited balance-sheet to the secretary of the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycl-
iug Club not later than' September 1 each, year."
"In the event of either section ceasing' to operate for one season, all assets after discharge of all legal debts be merged into the funds of the remaining section."
