_—:— --+■ A LEISURELY ROUND-UP One of the most astonishing robberies in South African history occurred in the Tree State village of Springfontein, states the Johannesburg correspondent of the London "Morning Post." • A youth arrived by train and booked a room at a !iotel. In the evening he visited the'house of the manager of' a local branch of a bank, where he held up the manager, his wife, and two visitors at the point of two revolvers while he'harangued them with his life history for two hours. After this the youth forced everybody into the manager's car and drove to the house of the bank cashier. He and his wife.were, forced into the ear, and he was compelled to take the bank, keys with him. The car was then driven to the bank, where it was found that one key was missing. Undismayed the bandit hustled everybody back into the car and drove to the house of another bank assistant, whom he forced to enter the car. The, groaning vehicle, with its cowed human freight, returned to the bank, when the bandit opened the safe and took £250. He then forced the manager to drive him back to the hotel, where he dismounted, after threatening penalties if the alarm was raised. After paying his bill fit tho hotel, the bandit proceeded to the station and departed by train.
