The Durban Turf Club's July Meeting on Saturday, July 28 last, was memorable in that the totalisator for the first time in the history of racing in South Africa passed the .£70,000 mark for a single day. Tho turnover amounted to £70.072 for the nine races, including £10.2-12 on the July Handicap and £7640 on the doubles pool, both South African records.
