DAY IN PARLIAMENT
DEBATE ON THE BUDGET
The debate on the Budget was continued in the House of Representatives yesterday, when throe speakers took part. With the exception of the denunciation by Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour, Auckland Central), of tho establishment of an auxiliary police force, in the Dominion, there was little to tirouso the interest of a thin House. On one occasion the bells had to be rung through lack of a quorum. In tho morning the House was occupied with reports from Select Committees, including the adverso recommendation on tho Woolston Tannery request for an inquiry into the position as to whether the company had overpaid £25,000 in income tax during the war years. Tho discussion on this report followed the lines of previous debates on tho question, and occupied most of the morning.
Tho Legislative Council met in the afternoon and passed the Imprest Supply Bill (No. 2). through all its stages.
