PETITION WITHHELD

HASTINGS, This Day

A decision not to present the petition which would have resulted in the withdrawal of Hawke's Bay from the Fruit Qontrolßoard was arrived at lust evening by a representative meeting of signatories. The following: motions were curried: — "That, after considering the report of the three delegates who attended the Dominion Conference, and being confident that the board .will not revert to the single agency system of marketing, this meeting of signatories has decided to withhold the petition from presentation to the Minister of Agriculture"; "that this meeting of fruit, exporters who arc signatories of.the Hawke's Bay petition views with alarm and strongly protests against the announcement made at Nelson by the Director of Horticulture, and earnestly desires the Minister of Agriculture to carefully analyse the results of the past three seasons' realisations, also the market reports to hand so far for 1934, before considering the enforcement of the drastic conditions.suggested by the Director. _ It is .the unanimous opinion of this meeting that not less than six brokers should be employed in the disposal of bur fruit in the United Kingdom."
