A trou'dcil court at Brighton heard tho opening of tho caso against Tony Maneini, alias Jack Noytre, on a charge of murdering Violetto Kaye. Counsel stated that Maneini had lived with Viiolette Kayo for a month. Maneini on May 14 told the landlord that Violet fo had run away with her uncle." Maaeini the same day went to other lodgings in Brighton, where later the trunk containing the human remains were found. Violetto was never again seen alive.

Counsel read a statement in which Maneini allegedly said that ho did not •kill Violettc Kaye. He said he found Kaye dead in the ■ flat and became frightened. He knew he would be blamed, so he kept the body. Counsel added that a hammer head found in the cupboard where Maneini lived corresponded with the fractur- on Violette's he*d.
