ANOTHER NATIONAL ANGLE
There have been forty-five races for the New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase since the Canterbury Jockey Club took over the event in JSSS. Thirty-nine different sires have been represented by the winners.

Of the sires in the above list, Qmu Abbey, Archiestown, Balboa, and Ihurnham are,represented this time. Thurnham at present has two candidates, namely, Thurina and Barrington. Quin Abbey has Quinopal. Balboa has Membo, and Billy Boy is again available to represent Archiestown. Tractor has Valves and Umtali. Other sires with a representative in the acceptors are Callaghan (Callnmart), Birkdale (Kiotous), Valkyrian (Valpeen), and St. Petersburg (Peterette). ,
