LODGE MEETINGS

-.■ Southern-.Cross-Lodge.—Bro, G. I'iaggi, N.G., presided over a very large "attendance. Reports of the sick visitors were received and accounts passed for rjayment." Invitations to socials and "500" eveniugs were accepted. Official visits were received from Zcalandia aid Maraenui Lodges. In reply to a vote of ■welcome, Bro. R. J. Mathers, D.D.G.M.. Bro. Bargh, D.D.G.M. (Hutt Valley), Brp. Elliot (Maraenui Lodge), and Bro. Ingham (Zealandia Lodge) conveyed fraternal greetings. At the close of the meeting Bro. Mathers unveiled a .photograph of the late Bro. W. G. Tustin, presented by. Miss Mabel Tustin. There was present a large gathering of male aud Rebckah members, the sons of the late brother, Messrs W. Tustin, J. Tustin, and IT. Tustin also being present. Bro. Mathers referred to the long list of past grands of Southern Cross Lodge who had become prominent in various walks of life. Bro. G. ; F. Rudkin, G.W., gave a resume of the life of the late brothor and referred to the sterling qualities which had endeared him to the hearts of all who knew him. After a short prayer by the district chaplain, Bro. W. J. Jarvis, the photograph was unveiled. The singing of "The Old Hundredth" brought the ceremony to a close. Dancing and cards concluded the evening. Wildey Lodge.—Bro. P. O'Boyle, N.G., presided over a goodly gathering. Visitors included Bros. S\ J. Jone3 and P. Lee, representing Southern Cross Lodge and District Lodge, and Bro. Reilly, of William Gane Lodge, Sydney. ' Three members were declared on the sick fund, and one member declared off, and relative sick pay, together with quarterly > accounts, was passed for payment. Reports from various committees were adopted. The captain of the team which defeated Marsenui Lodge for the Gribbage Shiejd, reported on the1 competition which was held recently, and accepted a challenge _ from Zealandia Lodge, to be played later in tho month. Official -visits were arranged for the ensuing fortnight, after which G.L. representatives, Bros. Jones and Lee, addressed members on Grand Lodge matters. Lodge business having been con* eluded, members indulged in practice games at cards. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS. Loyal Ryde Branch.—There was a large attendance lat the last meeting. Three candidates were initiated. The auditors' rep~ort on the branch books was presented. Sisters Wiffin and Neilson , and Bro. Thompson were appointed to represent the branch on a combined dance committee. Accounts amounting to £19 10a 3d were passed for paj'ment. At the conclusion of the meeting the visitors were entertained at games vand cards. Mirainar Branch.—The last meeting was well attended. Sick reports were received and sick pay passed for payment. Bro. Elford was added to the sports committee. Grand Lodge officers were present and on entering the lodge took the chairs. The Grand Master introduced the Grand Lodge officers. The Grand Secretary read the annual report, and the Grand Lodge officers addressed'the meeting. The Grand Master handed over to the N.G. of Miramar branch a photo of Bro. Chorley in Grand Master's regalia- The- District Master then took the chair and installed Bro. Bradstock as* vice-grand and Bro. Harrison as inside guard. The chair was handed over to the N.G., who thanked Bro. Chorley for his presentation, Bro.' Chorley suitably replying. Bro. Pearson's report of the district and ball committee meeting* was received. It was decided that a letter of congratulation be sent to Bro Ryde on his appointment as district lee turer. ' Loyal Central Branch— Sister Gower was the presiding officer. Other officer* present were Bro. Young, P.N.G.; Bro SpraggS, V.G.; Bro. Casey, treasurer; Bro. Couper, R. secretary; Sister Hooper, act ing-financial secretary; Bro. Gower.M.C; Bro. Napera, warden; Bro. Capes and Bro^ A. Taylor, supporters to the N.G ; Sister Wallace and Bro. Ives, supporters to the V.G.; Bro. Hutchinson, inner guard; and Bro. Yardley, outer guard Several .members were reported sicl^ and sick pay was passed accordingly. Sister Hooper reported upon the recent special meeting of the Medical Institute. Sister Gower reported upon visits to Loyal Wil Ham Bain and Newtown Alpha branches The usual business dispensed the meetiuc was closed with harmony. Star of Newtown Branch.—Sister Murphy, N.G-., presided. The usual routine business was dealt-.with and accounts passed for payment. Nominations were called to fill' two vacancies on the social committee, Sisters Cooper and O'Connell being elected. A generous otter of a ping-pong sot was made to the branch by Sister O'Conuell. Sisters Harnor and Lawlor and Bro. Harnor were visitors. The meeting concluded with harmony. District Council.—Bro. McQueen, D.M, presided. Other district officers present were Bro. Couper, D.D.M.; Sister Hooper, secretary; Sister ■ Ryde, treasurer; Bros. Harnor, sen., Tingay, and Miehell, trustees. Reports were received from Bro. Couper upon a visit by Newtown Alpha branch. Sister Hooper reported on a visit to Star of Newtown branch and Bro. Harnor and Sister Ryde upon business at Loyal William Bain branch, and Bro. Michell's visit to Loyal Onslow branch. The secretary was instructed to'arrange a meeting of the sports committee upon receipt of appointment of delegates by the branches. Bro. Tingay was appointed delegate to the United Friendly Society's Council. A vote of thanks was accorded Bro. Couper for use of a room for committee meetings. ORDER OF FORESTERS. Court Julius.—Bro. F. 11. Monk, C.R., was the presiding officer. Bro. A. J. Brown, secretary of the social committee, reported on the recent successful ball, at which Bro. A. J. Neilsou, the founder of Court Julius was presented with a; P.C.R. Star by Bro. T. Bedding, D.S.C.R., as a token of the esteem of members. The Chief Ranger welcomed visiting members of Court Pride, of Levin. Tlieu followed a general''discussion on lodge affairs.
