BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY.

A. most enjoyable evening was spent atthe rooms of the British Sailors' Society on Thin-slay, when a concert was given by well-known Wellington artistsi to a very large and k . most enthusiastic :. audience of seamen and friends.; The seating accommodation was taxed .to its utmost! The programme consisted of vocal, instrumental, .elocutionary, and dancing numbers. Every item was encored, the performers, responding: two and three times. Songs by Miss Violet : Roberts were much enjoyed, the audience joining in '■the choruses with enthusiasm. Several very fine dancing' items were contributed by Miss Margaret Oates's pupils. Items were also contributed by Mrs. Wilfred Andrews, Mrs. Hilliker.lMissesV. Roberts. D. Bartlett, ,V. and E. Hutchison, and J: Jenkins, Messrs. Norman Aitken, Austin, Glading, Wally Ball; 'and band items by the Bing; Boys and Collingwood Sea Scouts., Misses Dorothy "Spinks and .M. Coates were the accompanists. At the conclusion.a vote of thariks.was carried with acclamation, supper was-.served by the '.workers,. and 'the.; "evening'- brought to a ■close "with; the singing "of' the' National :Arithem.
