HOPE ABANDONED
MISSING GERMAN CLIMBERS
CALCUTTA, July 26. A message from the base canrp on Nanga Parbat says that all hope for Merky], the leader of the German expedition, and the porter, Gaylay, has been abandoned. .. All climbers and porters havo returned to the base camp after being unable to get moro than half way to camp 5 . -i weather.
