CHINESE UNITED MISSION
(To the Editor.)
s w> —lnquiries -with reference to the recently-formed Chinese United Christian Mission -have been addressed to mo under the impression that this new venture is being Sponsored by the Presbyterian .Church. I wish to make it quito clear that this is not the case. Tho only Chinese missioner engaged by the Presbyterian mission in New Zealand is tho -Rev. Y. 'S. 'Chau, an ordained minister of the -Church of Christ in China-^tho "united% church of which tho Presbyterian 'mission is a constituent part.- .With headquarters in Auckland, he has the oversight of the Presbyterian ' work ' among " Chinese throughout' the Dominion.
In Wellington, the Anglican and the Baptist missions to the Chinese, which havo -been long 'established, joined forces some three years ago, 'and are carrying ona successful united work with Mr. X.' C. Clriu 'as their sole Chinese missioher. The new mission which claims to bo a united -mission is in no way connected-' with the" united work already being carried on. I fool that in view of tho fact >that .this mission is seeking for public1 support this statoment should ,bo made. —I am, etc., , F. H. WILKINSON, , Local member Foreign 'Missions Committoe, -Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand.
