(From "The Post's" Representative.) . . LONDON, June 14. Mr. Ronald Syme will be a passenger for New Zealand t>y the Bangitane, leaving- on Juno 28. He is going out on a brief visit. Mr. Syme, ■ who belongs to Eltham, has been in England since 1925, most of the .time at Oxford, first as- a student, and ■ for several years past as lecturer in Greek and Roman history at Trinity College." Mr. Syme arrived as a brilliant student from New Zealand, and ho has had a very distinguished university career in the Mother Country. He is a Fellow, of Trinity College, and lias contributed chapters to tho Cambridge Ancient History and articles to various periodicals. He is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute, and in connection with, tho study of the history of the Roman Empiro he has travelled widely in south-eastern Europe. Mr. Syme is sure to havo a great reception from various friends in the Dominion. , Mr. J. B. Kent (Eastbourne) has completed his studies in the law, and is now seeing as much as possible in the six months' leave which has been granted to him by Ins employers, Messrs. Findlay, Hoggard, Cousins, and Wright, of Wellington. Shortly after landing in England, Mr. Kent went to Hamburg and Berlin, and on his return he toured in Yorkshire and Cumberland. Ha has accepted invitations to stay with friends in Belgium, Belfast, and Bristol, and he hopes before returning to New Zealand to sco something of the countries round the Baltic. Ho is im "monsely enjoying his holiday. At the last meeting of the council of the Royal Collego of Surgeons of England, over which Sir Holburt Waring presided, diplomas of fellowship were granted to a number of candidates, including: —D. B. McGavin, M.B.Camb., Camb. and St. Bart, (son of Sir Donald McGavin); A. I. Hunter, M.B. New Zealand (Otago); S. B. Morris, M.B. New Zealand (Otago); and D. G. Badcliffe, M.B. Sydney (Sydney and Otago).
