CHEAP RENTED HOMES
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —The announcement appearing in tho "Evening Post" of July 20 relative to the proposed housing scheme will be welcome news to tenants who are in receipt of small' wages. That cheap rented homes are urgently needed will be readily admitted by all sections of tho community who have the interests of the people affected by the depression at heart. In my previous letters 'to tho Press dealing with the subject of housing at reasonable rent about seven months ago, my critic, who signed himself "Landlord," Pahiatua, stated that there were plenty of houses available for tenants, and now the fact is admitted by prominent citizens that there is a serious 'shortage of houses throughout the Dominion, numbering about 10,000. I do not wish further to encroach on your valuable space, therefore I leave the matter to the judgment of tho people whether I am correct or otherwise this housing shortage. It is scarcely necessary to refer again to the benefits which will bo bestowed on the trading community in general and on the tradesmen and unskilled workers in particular.—l am, etc., ' , ■ . . .
