CHORAL UNION CLUB

There was a splendid attendance at the first evening: of the social club of the Koyal Wellington .Choral Union, the guests ofthe; . Evening: including Mr. , and Mrs. Stanley. Oliver and Mr. H. Brusey.

' Various competitions were held, the winners., being Mesdames , Pankhurst, Gibbs, and MoLeod, Miss Shearer, Misses Brusey and Ramsay, whilst a special competition was won by Mr. Brice. -

'During, the evening -Mr. Stanley Oliver, in a short speech, expressed his pleasure and that of Mrs. Oliver at being present, and voiced his appreciation o£ the splendid work done by Mr. Harry Brusey in training the members o£ the union for the. production of "II Trovatore," stating that Mr. Brusey's efforts had. made his (Mr. Oliver's) work comparatively light. Mr,Brusey, on rising to reply, was greeted with warm applause. Items were contribbuted by Mrs. Jenkin and Miss Gladys Hibberd, the pianist for the evening being Mr. Alan Shand."Mr. S. Jantke made a capable M.C. An excellent supper brought a most enjoyable evening to a close. -,'."'
